About
Anne Daffertshofer is an art historian, writer and curator working between Edinburgh and Berlin. Her research draws on ecocriticism, new mobilities and the politics of landscape and nature, exploring how contemporary art history can challenge anthropocentric paradigms and illuminate the entanglements between human and more-than-human life.
She pursued these themes through her PhD, Anthropocene Mobilities in Contemporary Art: Exploring A Movement-Oriented Lens in Times of Ecological Crisis (University of St Andrews), and through Looking North Talks, which she founded and hosted.
Most recently, Anne was Art and Cultural Programmes Curator at St Andrews Botanic Garden, where she worked with national and international artists, creative practitioners and Scottish art institutions in the context of an exhibition and events, including lunchtime talks, workshops, film screenings and artist talks that opened space for critical reflection on contemporary conditions and speculative futures.
Her independent practice continues at the intersection of contemporary art, eco-critical theory and creative fields including cooking, literature, film, performance and oral storytelling.
Anne is the co-curator of On Paradise, an international group exhibition at Villa Schoeningen (31 May – 23 August 2026). Bringing together artists from across six centuries, the exhibition takes as its central question: where has the idea of Paradise led us, historically, spiritually, societally? Its anachronistic approach invites unexpected juxtapositions and new lines of thought.
She is available for curatorial projects, public programming, writing and editorial commissions, event moderation, talks and lectures - in English and German.
